As you follow the path that winds up through the forest, you're infused with
the soothing scent of pine. In the autumn, the sun's rays play kaleidoscopic
tricks, casting a thousand colours on the forest canopy. In the summer, if you
stay quiet as you leave the shelter of the forest and enter a more rugged,
rocky environment, you might catch a glimpse of the marmots.
Listen carefully: was that a whistle, coming from the rocks? It's the cry of a
sentinel wanring the rest of the colony that you're here. All marmots to their
burrows! If you stay quiet and still, you might see a little head cautiously
popping of the ground.
La Partie, a picturesque little lake, is a haven of peace among the surrounding
peaks and the Polset glacier.
The more intrepid hikers can keep going, up to Col de Chavière.
Then, it's time to turn back, as there's a delicious meal awaiting you at Orgère
refuge. With Le Gault and Millau, that's a promise!
