Musicales de l'Ouille Allègre - Listening keys with Ensemble La Piémontoise

Baroque flute, viola da gamba and harpsichord resonate in the Bonneval church with a program of French music from the 17th and 18th centuries. Inspired by the dances of the period, this music sings of impressions, emotions or imitates bells.

Before the concert, the musicians themselves present the 8:30pm concert. In simple terms, they situate the works in their historical context, play representative excerpts, present their instruments, answer questions, etc.
Concert of French music from the 17th and 18th centuries by the ensemble "La Piémontoise": baroque flute, viola da gamba and harpsichord.
The choice of this program was born of the desire to immerse oneself, for the duration of a concert, in the imaginary world that characterized the entire French musical tradition of this period and, subsequently, that of Debussy and beyond.
The titles of the pieces are often imaginary, and the sources of inspiration are described by the music in colorful touches: here, dances (allemande, sarabande, courante, gigue...) with their particular rhythms; there, evocations of places (la Piémontoise, le Provençal...) or church bells (La Sonnerie de Sainte Geneviève du Mont de Paris), or characters (la Marais), emotions (l'Affligé, Air tendre...), impressions.
The chosen composers were well known in their day, composing for the king's court: François Couperin known as "le Grand" and his uncle Louis, Michel Corrette, Jean Philippe Rameau, Marin Marais and other lesser-known musicians, whom the Ensemble La Piémontoise invites you to discover on this occasion.
The Ensemble "La Piémontoise", named after a piece by Louis Couperin and François Couperin's suite "Les Nations", is made up of Claudine Desjardins on traverso (baroque transverse flute), Dominique Desjardins on viola da gamba and Anna Cavalli on harpsichord.
