Would you like to help improve our knowledge of the impact of climate change in the mountains? Then participatory science is for you. Through two easy-to-access protocols, with no need for any prior knowledge, you'll become a field investigator for a day! Your objective? Go to the Loriaz mountain pasture in Vallorcine to observe the high altitude ponds and blueberry bushes near the refuge. Yes, yes, I assure you, they have plenty to tell us about the changing mountain climate! Follow the guide who, in his role as mediator, will show you how to go about collecting data that will be useful to the Centre de Recherche sur les Ecosystèmes d'Altitude (CREA Mont-Blanc).
● Departure: Le Buet (74) from the train station
● Times: 9:30 am return around 4 pm
● Difference in altitude: approx. 690 D+/D-
● Distance: approx. 12 km
● Physical level: average
● Technical level: no difficulty - on trail

The hike is organized in association with two organizations: Montagnes et Sciences and CREA Mont-Blanc.
Montagne & Sciences is a Grenoble-based association that has been organizing the Montagne & Sciences film festival for scientific expeditions in the mountains for several years. For the past 3 years, it has been coordinating the organization of hikes accompanied by a scientist and a mountain professional on a wide variety of themes.
CREA Mont-Blanc is a scientific NGO whose mission is to explore the impact of climate change on biodiversity and share this knowledge with decision-makers and citizens. An expert in alpine ecology and data science, CREA Mont-Blanc has put participatory science at the heart of its approach by involving researchers, decision-makers and the general public in its observatory of mountain biodiversity and climate change.
You'll be accompanied by Elodie Blandin, CREA Mont-Blanc's mountain guide, who worked for 7 years in the field of scientific culture. Her fascination and desire to understand and share knowledge about the sciences was born. Imbued with this curiosity and desire to share, she is keen to develop awareness-raising initiatives and to continue working with the world of research. The mountains are a fantastic terrain for this: continuing to learn and share, raising awareness among as many people as possible in a setting as grandiose as it is fragile.
