The tree was planted under the reign of Henri IV (1553-1610), named Sully Tree (The name of Henri IV’s prime minister). The Lime Tree would be over 500 years old today. It resisted at an avalanche in 1981 which destroyed a part of the village.

The Lime Tree located at the Chef-lieu in Saint Colomban des Villards was certified “Remarkable Tree of France” in 2013. It is 18 meters high.
