Le Fort de la Redoute Ruinée

A high-altitude redoubt built between 1890 and 1902 as part of the Séré de Rivières fortification system and then reinforced between 1936 and 1940, it played a major part in the Battle for the Alps in June 1940 due to its strategic frontier position.

Winter season: accessible via the "Espace San Bernardo" ski area
Summer season: accessible to hikers and mountain bikers, subject to weather conditions.

Access
From La Rosière, take the Roches Noires Express chairlift to the 'Roc Noir' lookout point (at an altitude of 2,346m).
Le Roc Noir is an ideal picnic spot, boasting a panoramic map and breathtaking views of the surrounding area. From the Roc Noir, take the path that leads to the Traversette pass: it is an easy 40-minute walk (one way).
From the Fort, you can enjoy a 360° panoramic view over the Petit-Saint-Bernard pass and the Mont-Blanc massif.
